Flapper

This quilt was created for a challenge about the colors black and white and one other color. As a hairdresser, I was inspired by the finger wave hairstyle worn by Betty Boop and women of the 1930s. The woman's dress was inspired by the clothing of the character Edith from the Downton Abbey TV Series. The font of the word "Flapper" is inspired by a font used on tattoos.

Materials: Commercial cottons, commercial batiks, tulle, lace trim, pearls, fabric paint, glitter nail polish, beads, beaded trim on bottom binding and sequins.

Techniques: Raw edged fused applique, commercial machine quilted, hand embellished.
