This Heron was photographed by my friend Jone Palmquist, flying near Eugene Oregon. It is thread painted, and surrounded by embroidered flowers, gauze and commercial cotton shores, with iron dyed silk on the opposite shore. The lake itself is batik, fused in place without quilting stitches. In real life, the Rainbow Heron is normally shades of grey and blue and are frequently seen in this area. |
