The richly layered surfaces of this artwork, Mixed Messages #2, incorporates the visual elements of mark making, writing, patterns, letters and symbols. The quilting lines suggest words in their calligraphic flourish and poetic flow. My artwork has become the documentation of my life's journey; through journal writing, notes, poems,mementos and personal imagery. It is this visual vocabulary that initiates contemplation and perhaps reveals new contexts that stimulate emotion, memory and/or transformation. Machine pieced, fused, raw edge applique. Deconstructed screen printed, artist-made thermofax screen printed, paper lamination. Machine and hand stitched. 24 x 48 |
